Frequently asked questions.

Jewellery

Where do you buy your jewellery?

All of our pieces are designed and handmade by our founder Maisie. We source our materials from bead suppliers and other small business across the world, we often find the most gorgeous unique beads from independent shops.

What materials do you use?

At Sandy Pearl we want to create quality and long lasting jewellery pieces. We use gold filled and gold stainless steel metals. And always freshwater pearls. We love that freshwater pearls are individual and unique making each piece different from the next. We also use a range of beads such as glass seed beads, natural stone beads and heishi beads.

What is the difference between stainless steel and gold filled?

Firstly we use these two components in our jewellery as they are a more durable alternative to gold plating. After comparing both stainless steel and gold plating we found that gold plating tarnished very fast, but stainless steel held its shine and gold colour in water and through continuous wear.

Stainless Steel

A layer of gold of a stainless steel base. When cared for properly, this metal won’t fade quickly. It’s also hypoallergenic, durable and perfect for daily use.

Gold filled

A layer of 14Kt gold mechanically bonded under heat and pressure to one or more supporting base metals. These are considered lifetime products and achieves the high quality and durability we strive for.

Sustainability

Sustainability was always one of our most important features when creating Sandy Pearl. However, being a small jewellery brand, we are aware that not all our materials are sustainable, therefore we do our best to compensate in other areas of our business. We use 100% plastic free, eco friendly packaging from sustainable suppliers. All of our pieces are made to order to prevent overproducing. We support local and sustainable business by purchasing materials and packaging. As Sandy Pearl grows we have plans for the future, to grow this list and increase our sustainability.
